This article explains how to request the removal of a Google review from your Google Business Profile if the review is inaccurate, spam, or from someone you never served.

While Google does not guarantee removal, this process allows you to formally report the review and start the review moderation process with Google.

When Should You Report a Google Review?

You may want to request removal if a review:

  • Was left by someone who was never a customer

  • Appears to be posted on the wrong business profile

  • Contains false, misleading, or fabricated claims

  • Is spam, offensive, or violates Google’s review policies

Google automatically filters some spam reviews, but others may require manual reporting.

What You’ll Need Before You Start

To report a review, you must have:

  • Access to your Google Business Profile
(formerly known as Google My Business)

  • The Gmail account associated with your business profile

Step-by-Step: How to Report a Google Review

1. Sign In to Google Business Profile

  • Go to Google and search for Google Business Profile

  • Sign in using the Gmail account connected to your business

Alternatively, you can search for your business name directly in Google while logged in.

2. Select Your Business

If you manage multiple businesses:

  • Choose the correct business from the list

  • Open the business profile you want to manage

3. Open Your Reviews

  • Click Read Reviews to view all reviews on your profile

  • Locate the review you believe should be removed

4. Report the Review

  • Click the three-dot menu next to the review

  • Select Report review

  • Choose the reason that best applies

  • Click Send Report

What Happens After You Report a Review?

After submission:

  • Google reviews the report internally

  • They may remove the review if it violates policy

  • They may contact you for additional information

  • In some cases, the review may remain if Google determines it does not violate guidelines

There is no guaranteed timeline or outcome, but reporting the review is the only way to formally escalate the issue.

Important Notes

  • Reporting a review does not guarantee removal

  • Google makes the final decision

  • Reviews may be removed automatically if detected as spam

  • Only reviews that violate Google policies are eligible for removal
